NYC Dept of Health issues an Advisory in Error...

The City Dept of health issued an advisory IN ERROR and then pulled it off the website..
It originally read:

advisory....bacteria levels were over 255 per 100 ml (which is way over the limit)

now they removed the advisory and deleted the results for August 4th..which is
post dating a water test....go figure....

Chalu, to get to Gerritsen Creek you have to paddle all the way around Floyd Bennet Field, under the Marine Park bridge, across Dead Horse Bay to the edge of Plumb Beach and back under the belt parkway...it's really not that close. It took me about 3 1/2 hours just to reach the mouth of the creek one day. The bacteria level in our waters is a very important concern overall, but we aren't much affected by the water in Gerritsen Creek because it flows out very near an opening in the bay where the water runs into the ocean. It's probably flushed more quickly into the ocean than most parts of the bay. Their water would not be pulled toward our part of the bay regardless of the tide.

In reference to the sewage system, Gerritsen Creek is just the next treatment plant down the pipe, I am talkling about over land trips, not by water. So when they shut down the valve at one plant, we are next in line....I am not saying that we get the same water, we get the same sewage out flows...
